The Nanakshahi calendar is a solar calendar based on the teachings and life of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. It was introduced in 1999 by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the governing body of Sikh gurdwaras in India. The calendar is designed to align with the Sikh festivals and commemorate important events in Sikh history.
